Who You Are: Versar, Inc. is seeking a Wildlife Biologist / Natural Resources Specialist to support our operations at Fort Huachuca, AZ. This position will perform activities to support the government in natural resources management, including in the areas of wildlife management and the protection of threatened and endangered species. Primary work location is Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ. What You'll Do: The responsibilities of this position are to provide a broad range of natural resources management support under the direction of the Government Threatened and Endangered Species (TES) Biologist. This support will be focused on TES species and Sikes Act related project work. This will include invasive flora and fauna management, game management, human-wildlife conflicts, habitat management, flora and fauna surveys, field data analysis and management, Geographic Information System (GIS), and public outreach. This work requires highly flexible work hours (i.e., at all hours of the day or night any day of the week) and the ability to conduct work under physically strenuous and somewhat dangerous conditions (e.g., steep mountainous terrain, wildlife encounters, etc.) During peak wildlife season, this position may be required to adjust work hours to provide full coverage for wildlife responses. Continuing medical monitoring is required for personnel that are applying/spraying herbicides and personnel are required to have current rabies vaccinations. Upon accepting this position, training and certification requirements include ATV training, 4-Wheel Drive training, Ladder Safety, Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid Certification, continual State Certification and License for Herbicide application, and Enclosed Spaces training.
