What You'll Be Doing:

  • Water and Sewer Maintenance : Repair water and sewer leaks and perform regular sewer cleaning using specialized equipment.
  • Equipment Operation : Operate and maintain heavy equipment like backhoes and dump trucks to support maintenance tasks.
  • Fire Hydrant Maintenance : Install, maintain, and paint fire hydrants to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Water Meter Services : Test, read, maintain, and replace water meters throughout the city.
  • Safety and Reporting : Report defective or dangerous equipment to supervisors and ensure all work is carried out safely.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent education, with additional specialized training in a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role, typically gained through an apprenticeship, internship, or one to two years of related work.
  • A valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to obtain Class "C" Water and Wastewater certifications from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is preferred.

Work Environment:

This is an outdoor position that requires working in various weather conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and machinery. Protective gear such as masks, goggles, and gloves will be provided.
