Job Description: Registered Nurse - ICU Step Down at Jacobi Medical Center Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Step Down Client: New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation - Jacobi Medical Center Department: - ICU Step Down Location: 1400 Pelham Parkway South, Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx, NY 10461 Shift: Night Shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours Per Week: 34.5 hours (3 shifts per week, 11.5 hours per shift) Compensation and Benefits: • Weekly Gross: $2,853.00 Per Week • On W2(Taxable): $690.00 Per Week ($20/hour) • Stipend (Non-Taxable): $2,163.00 Per Week Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the ICU Step Down Unit at Jacobi Medical Center. The RN will provide care for patients transitioning from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), requiring more attention and monitoring than those on a general medical-surgical unit. This position involves managing patients with complex needs, utilizing medical equipment such as catheters, ventilators, and cardiac monitors, and providing frequent assessments and escalation of care as needed. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor patients with various medical equipment, including catheters, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, ventilators, and cardiac monitors. • Provide care for patients transitioning out of the ICU, requiring a higher level of care and attention. • Conduct frequent patient assessments and respond appropriately to changes in the patient’s medical condition. • Respond to cardiac arrest and rapid response codes as necessary. • Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, depending on patient acuity. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care. • Document patient information and interventions accurately in the medical record. Required Qualifications: • Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State. • Two years of experience in Medical/Surgical Step-Down (SD) or ICU nursing. • Experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, and conscious sedation. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). • Satisfactory completion of age-specific competency training. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in Geriatric, Cardiac, and ICU nursing. • Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy and other specialized skills are a plus. Schedule: • 3 shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). • No on-call required. • Holiday shifts may be required based on unit needs. Vaccine Requirements: • COVID-19 vaccine is required, with medical/religious exemptions allowed. • Flu vaccine is required, with medical/religious exemptions only.
