About the Project:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Somali-to-English translator (Mogadishu dialect) to support the translation of a comprehensive clinical training textbook for nursing assistants. The textbook is used to provide additional support to the online training materials, document learning activities as assigned, highlight nurse aide skills, and provide a glossary and abbreviations. In addition to the textbook, this role must be able to translate two short, online courses and narrate them in Hmong. 

Responsibilities:

• Verify digitally produced translation content from Somali to English with a high level of accuracy and cultural sensitivity making edits and corrections as needed
• Maintain consistency in tone, terminology, and formatting throughout the material as originally designed in English
• Collaborate with clinical and instructional design teams to clarify technical terms or concepts when needed
• Voice record two courses in Somali to support end-user learner
• Meet agreed-upon deadlines and provide regular progress updates

Qualifications:

• Native-level fluency in English; professional proficiency in Somali
• Three years of experience translating healthcare or clinical content (Required)
• Familiarity with medical and clinical terminology in both languages
• Degree or certification in translation, linguistics, healthcare, or related field (Preferred)
• RN or LPN degree (Preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a project team

Contract Terms:

• Project-based compensation
