Our Allentown office is currently looking for a full-time Traffic Engineer to join our team. The Traffic Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and implementing traffic control systems, analyzing transportation patterns, and enhancing road safety across multiple projects in Pennsylvania. This position is ideal for a skilled engineer with a strong background in traffic design, analysis, and familiarity with state and federal regulations. The Traffic Engineer will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver efficient and innovative traffic solutions.

Job Description:

  • Conduct and oversee traffic impact studies, safety analyses, and traffic flow and safety.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, plans, and specifications for highway and traffic engineering projects including traffic control devices such as signals, signs, and pavement marking for both municipal and commercial clients.
  • Conduct and oversee studies that involve parking restrictions, pavement markings, sight distance, signage, and speed limits.
  • Conduct and oversee traffic study reports for intersection design and roadway improvements.
  • Lead the design and analysis of traffic control devices, including signals, signage, and pavement markings using Synchro and HCS.
  • Develop and optimize signal timing plans using traffic engineering software such as Synchro, HCS, or related tools.
  • Collaborate with team members, other departments, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Perform site visits and filed investigations to collect data, assess traffic conditions, and implement solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates and project schedules for municipal and commercial clients.
  • Participate in staff, client and public meetings and presentations, providing technical support and addressing community concerns.
  • Stay current with industry standards, technology advancements, and best practices in traffic engineering.
  • Ensure that all designs and analyses comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, traffic engineering, or related field.
  • 3-8 years of experience in traffic engineering or related discipline.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to conduct field work which may include standing, walking, and carrying equipment on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to work both in the field and office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various customer sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualification

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one within one year.
  • Experience with project management and leading project teams a plus.
