An effective Tool Room Attendant contributes significantly to project efficiency, safety, and productivity by ensuring that the right tools are available, well-maintained, and used safely for each task.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking electrical and control systems tools, supplies, and equipment like hand tools, power tools, special tools, calibrated tooling, test equipment, and support equipment. Ensure accurate inventory records through manual logging or computer systems.
- Visually inspecting tools for wear, defects, and damage, performing basic maintenance and cleaning, and arranging for repairs or replacements as needed to ensure tools are in good working condition.
- Reviewing inventory levels, determining tool needs based on production schedules, and requisitioning new tools and supplies as required.
Required skills and qualifications
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, calibrated tooling, test equipment, and other specialized tools used in electrical and control systems applications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office & Excel to accurately maintain on-hand inventory & parts.
- Attention to details is critical to maintaining accurate inventory records, identifying tool wear, and ensuring proper tool handling and storage.
- Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and vendors to address tool needs, provide guidance, and coordinate activities.
- Aptitude for troubleshooting tool-related issues, arranging repairs, and resolving discrepancies in inventory.
- Collaborative and supportive, willingness to work with others and aid across different teams or departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide tool access to production and maintenance staff based on requests.
- Ability to be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate detail-oriented work.
- Assist with tool maintenance, inventory management, and organization
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling tools and equipment
- Clean, inspect, and repair tools as needed.
- Track tool inventory, order replacements, and maintain accurate records.
- Assist others on special project needs when appropriate.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license & High School Diploma; or GED is required.
- Ability to clearly speak, write, read, and understand the English language.
- Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and well with others.
- Steel Toe Shoes are required to safely perform the job
Schedule
- Day shift (6:00 am - 4:30 pm)
- Mon-Thurs - 40-hour work week, OT as required (project based)
