Job Summary

As a Test Driver Engineer , you will be responsible for managing and executing tire vehicle testing programs across North America. This includes coordinating testing schedules, logistics, and data collection while collaborating closely with engineers and test drivers to improve procedures and outcomes. The role requires hands-on involvement in tire and vehicle testing, data analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage internal vehicle testing programs, focusing on ride and handling.
  • Schedule test tracks, obtain quotes, and coordinate logistics with proving grounds.
  • Acquire test vehicles (rent/lease) and manage wheels inventory or rentals.
  • Oversee tire and wheel mounting and shipment to and from test sites.
  • Collect data during testing, analyze results, and create detailed reports for engineers.
  • Coordinate external testing with third-party evaluators.
  • Manage snow handling and traction testing programs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to enhance data collection processes and test methodologies.
  • Align with other test drivers to standardize testing procedures and evaluations.
  • Travel to proving grounds and test sites as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in tire or vehicle testing, including 3+ years as a test driver.
    • Proficiency in vehicle operation, especially during tire testing for ride and handling.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of tire engineering and testing methodologies.
    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using Microsoft Office tools.
    • Basic knowledge of tire mounting equipment operation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new testing methods and technologies.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Travel Flexibility:
    • Willingness to travel domestically within North America to proving grounds and test sites.

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience with automotive OEM tire testing.
  • Working knowledge of tire engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with tire mounting and related equipment.
