Respawn Entertainment is looking for a Technical Designer Intern to join us in expanding the Apex Legends-Events team at our growing location in Madison, Wisconsin. Reporting to the Game Design Director, you will work in a team to help prototype and refine gameplay features in Apex Legends. Responsibilities: Work with designers, engineers and other creative to develop the vision and improve compelling gameplay systems Write functional script that aligns with technical best practices Align and collaborate with multiple disciplines to promote the vision of gameplay features. Improve on features based on playtesting, design requirements, and creative direction Requirements: Computer science fundamentals and scripting experience (Lua, Python, JavaScript, etc.) An interest & passion in creating gameplay systems, mechanics and game modes A strong attention to detail and an eye for polish A collaborative and inclusive attitude, ask questions, learn and adapt Communicate design ideas and requirements to non-designers Experience with a game engine or framework (Unreal, Unity, Godot, SDL, etc.) Drive to learn and comprehend the game design process, specifically game mechanics and design theory Nice To Have: Experience with C++ Portfolio of game projects Interest and passion working in a multiplayer live service environment Familiarity with the Battle Royale genre If all this excites you, then we want to talk to you.
