Job Description

Full or Part Time

Work with us, not for us
We believe that people should find their work enjoyable (and) sustainable. Pay generous. The environment collaborative. Its people kind.

Our Needs
We have 2 tables that we'd like to open on Thurs, Fri, and Sat. To achieve this, we are looking for a chef comfortable making nigiri, butchering fish, and prepping. Ideally, you would take over some ownership of fish orders, inventory, and the aging process.

Our Ideal Team Member
You have experience in sushi at a high level, are precise, and would enjoy handling sashimi and nigiri for 6-7 people twice per night.

The Job
  • Time Off = 4 - 5 weeks annually (paid after a specified tenure)
    • 3 weeks in Dec/Jan (Dec 22nd to January 12th this year)
    • 1 week in April
    • 1 week in August
  • Hours:
    • Shifts = 8 hours. Longer shifts available if it's better for your needs.
    • Much as we value flexibility, this position requires Friday and Saturday evenings (the rest of the week can be adjusted).
    • Full or part time
Compensation
Is hourly (see range above), plus tips. We'd like to attract talented people, but also because we believe in being fair. Especially if you can provide what we need. Most importantly, you shouldn't need to rely on overtime to make a fair wage. Or take a salary and be worked to the bone.

Stress Conscious Environment
• Sustainability is important. Burnout prevention is key. Take your sick day, please.
• We are well-staffed, so as to make excellence easy to achieve.

Low-Ego Philosophy
At this level it’s a small world, so we should all be interested in one another's long-term needs. Perhaps most importantly: this is a great place to work and our interest is in someone long-term, but it’s not everyone’s last stop in life. We genuinely care about supporting those we work with during and after our time together, which sometimes includes saying goodbye. With respect, grace, and a helping hand to get you your next dream job.

Reputation
For better or worse, reputation matters in the culinary world. We are Michelin recommended since we opened our doors. Our Google and Yelp ratings are 5 and 4.9, respectively.

Next Steps:

1. Please send your experience. Resumes are nice, but it doesn't need to be fancy. We care more about who you are and who you'd like to become.

2. Please tell us who you are, in your own words. Not just what you can do for us, but what we can also do for you (e.g. what your dream position / schedule / etc. looks like). Making sure everyone is happy is important to us.
