Under general supervision, responsible for assisting technicians with determining the correct part number(s), locating parts, receiving parts into inventory, distributing parts to customers (both internal and external), proper documentation of all transactions, returning incorrect/defective parts to vendors, inventory control and maintenance, OSHA/EPA compliance, and outstanding customer service. Duties include providing customers with the correct parts for their vehicle, locating and receiving shipment of parts, maintaining parts inventory for neatness and accuracy, controlling service supplies to minimize waste, allocating parts in the AutoMation system, returning incorrect or defective parts to vendors, meeting OSHA/EPA guidelines, and providing outstanding customer service at all times. The job requires reading, interpreting and transcribing data, intermediate PC skills with spreadsheet knowledge, working with associates of other departments, performing multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, understanding numeric filing systems, effective communication with customers and associates, and completing CarMax provided training in all areas of the parts process. Working conditions include primarily indoor office environment, possible noisy conditions or inclement weather, walking or standing for extended periods, flexible work hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and 12-hour days, and wearing CarMax clothing while working in the store.
