Description:

The Summer Intern, Finance & Accounting will report to the Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis, but will have interaction with the following individuals in the Finance & Accounting Department:

Chief Financial Officer

Vice President, Controller

Director, Fund Reporting

Internship Timeline

June 2, 2025 - July 11, 2025

Monday - Wednesday each week

Key Responsibilities:

FUND REPORTING (American Beacon Funds)

• Review Tailored Shareholder Reports for accuracy and compliance
• Recalculate and tie out portfolio of investments for various mutual fund financial reports to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy
• Verify prior year fund financial statement figures align with the latest audited Annual Report
• Reconcile fund shareholder transactions to fund accounting and transfer agent reports
• Recalculate and review fund derivative disclosures in footnotes to financial statements for accuracy

CORPORATE ACCOUNTING

• Prepare the consolidated month-to-date and year-to-date flows reports comparing actuals to prior year and plan
• Assist with the preparation of month-to-date and year-to-date variance explanations for the Consolidated Income Statement line items compared to prior year and plan for various financial reporting packages
• Prepare monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations for multiple entities
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for 5+ bank accounts
• Record cash and non-cash journal entry transactions to the general ledger to the general ledger system, Netsuite

FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS

• Prepare monthly expense tools for Resolute departments to assist in cost efficiency initiatives tied to the Company's Strategic Long Range Plan objectives
• Analyze department expenses monthly, as compared to Plan, to identify trends and reasoning in variances
• Prepare period over period variance explanations for various Key Performance Indicators
• Assist in monitoring and fulfilling Debt Requirements
• Assist in database management and standardization of vendor level data

Requirements:

• Individual pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
• Ability to multi-task and meet required deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
• Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated
• Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
