Job Title: Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Composite) Job Code: 20621 Job Location: Huntsville, AL Job Schedule: 9/80 work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off Job Description: We are seeking a Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Composite) to work at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) located in Huntsville, AL. The Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer develops and transition manufacturing processes from development to production. Implement and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems. Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. This position will specialize in composite machining and cutting processes. Essential Functions: Plan, develop, initiate and maintain processes for the fabrication of advanced composite parts. Create work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs that meet design, process, quality, safety, and environmental requirements. Provide shop floor support of advanced composite manufacturing processes. Provide technical guidance and/or training to shop floor, design and management teams. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications in support of developing robust and advanced part and tooling designs. Interface with all of the related support groups for processes to ensure accuracy, control and safety of the personnel and quality of the hardware. Perform investigations of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and present process changes to customers at change board meetings. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering experience. Preferred Additional Skills: Working with composite machining & cutting. GD&T background supporting part validation. CAD modeling experience. Machining parts using CNC and manual machines. Programming CNC mills and lathes. Operation and programming of Digital Cutting Tables. Operation and programming of robots. Operation and programming of CMMs. Experience with UG-NX.
