The Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is the driving force behind sharing the university's compelling stories on a global scale. We employ various mediums, including Special Events, to effectively communicate our message and to support the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors in their efforts to engage with students, faculty, alumni, donors, community, and government leaders.
Assist the Director of Special Events and the events team with the coordination, preparation, and logistical support of university events and ceremonies hosted by the Chancellor and other administrative units. This position supports the implementation of established event plans and procedures, ensuring details are executed smoothly and professionally.
Some evening and weekend work required. Occasional travel, both in-state and out-of-state, including single-day and overnight travel.
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field.
One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in Events Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or any other related field.
Master's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Familiarity with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Experience with donor or event management systems (e.g., TED).
Familiarity with event registration or event management software.
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5009 Events Administrator Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
