Job Description

As a Factor Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring our systems provide our customers a first-class experience. In support of the continued growth of our customer base and technology footprint, you will leverage your talents and experience to advance our operational capabilities. This will require an individual who is able to collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to both project planning and execution.

Responsibilities

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring software systems (performance and availability), developing/maintaining process automation tools, disaster and failure recovery planning and testing, system capacity planning, performance tuning, defining/monitoring service levels, managing documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

While this position has a traditional operational focus, we are creating this role with DevOps focus. A Factor Site Reliability Engineer will work in concert with our product development team. As such, this role will assist in accelerating software delivery (dev/test automation), developing/maintaining monitoring and logging strategies, and managing environments/configurations. As with all technical roles at Factor, a security mindset is important to be successful in this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / software engineering / cloud computing / information systems / information technology and 4 years of related professional experience. 
  • Experience managing cloud-based platform systems (preference to Azure). 
  • Experience managing/orchestrating/scaling containerized environments (Linux and Windows). 
  • Proficient in scripting and automation with languages like PowerShell and Bash. 
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Application Insights, Prometheus, or Grafana. 
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools/languages like Bicep or Terraform. 
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI. 
  • Experience managing and optimizing databases such as SQL Server, Postgres, or Cosmos DB. 
  • Knowledge of software development environments such as Node/React and Asp.Net Core.
  • Knowledge of event driven solutions with technologies such as serverless compute, Azure Service Bus, Rabbit, or Kafka. 
  • Understanding of security principles and practices.
  • Ability to solve complex technical and business problems and challenges.
