Job Description

Staff Management Group is seeking a Sewing Machine Operator for our client in Totowa, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.

Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: 7AM - 3:30PM

Pay Rate:

  • $15.49 / hour 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Sewing Machine Operator with years of experience in shoe manufacturing and repair. The right candidate is proficient in operating industrial sewing machines, stitching leather, fabric, and synthetic materials, and maintaining high-quality standards in footwear production. The individual should be known for precision, efficiency, and teamwork in fast-paced environments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble shoe uppers, linings, and related components.
  • Stitch leather, textiles, and synthetic materials with precision and attention to quality.
  • Cut, trim, and prepare materials for sewing as part of the shoe manufacturing process.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with company standards and quality specifications.
  • Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to minimize downtime.
  • Follow work orders and production specifications accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
  • Support senior operators with machine setup, adjustments, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets and workflow needs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and workplace procedures at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • MUST be bilingual - English AND Spanish
  • Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong stitching skills with a focus on quality, consistency, and speed.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production guidelines.
  • Manual dexterity, strong attention to detail, and ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks.
  • Flexible to work overtime or shifts as required by production demand.
