Job Description
Our Client, a leader in commercial real estate and facilities/asset management is seeking to add a Senior Software Engineer to its team. This role will work hybrid in Houston, TX and works Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. This is a 10-month contract-to-hire role that pays $69.95 per hour. The key to this role is RPG knowledge and strong software engineer experience. Upon conversion this role offers increased compensation, an annual bonus plan, and a strong benefit package.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain custom programming solutions on top of the COTS AS400 system.
Design and implement custom data feeds for clients, ensuring seamless data integration.
Provide production support, including monitoring and troubleshooting day-end processes.
Collaborate with onsite business and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
Optimize and enhance RPG/AS400 applications to improve efficiency and performance.
Utilize IBM WebSphere and/or WebSphere Liberty for application development and deployment.
Ensure database integrity and performance, working with DB2/400 and other database technologies as needed.
Document system changes, enhancements, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in RPG/AS400/iSeries development.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in RPG/400, RPGLE, CL/400, CLLE, and DB2/400.
Experience with tools such as SYNON, Aldon, WRKQRY, IBM i, X-Analysis, and IBM WebSphere.
Strong knowledge of IBM WebSphere and/or WebSphere Liberty.
Familiarity with database management systems like Oracle and MS SQL Server.
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with business and technical teams.
Problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting production issues.
Nice to Have:
~ Experience with cloud technologies and the Microsoft tech stack (C#, ASP.NET, Angular, SQL Server, Oracle, Azure).
