Great American Risk Solutions is adding a Sr. Claim Representative to their team. The positions will focus on losses in a nationwide book of surplus lines business, including primary and excess claims under commercial general liability policies (CGL) with a focus on construction related claims including property damage claims and construction defect.

The person for this position will work from our downtown Cincinnati, Ohio corporate offices which offers a hybrid work from home opportunity. If not in the Cincinnati metro area, full time work from home is available. Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as needed, is required.

Job title and grade will depend on the successful applicants' level of experience.

Responsibilities
  • Investigates and maintains claims:
  • Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability.
  • Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, reports, or other documents) in the investigation of claims.
  • Works toward the resolution of claims files, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions or trials as necessary.
  • May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
  • Conveys moderately complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains necessary adjuster licenses, including completing required continuing education.

Qualifications
  • 2 - 5 years of experience handling claims. Our focus is on candidates with experience handling one or more of the following types of claims: third-party property damage, construction defect, premises liability or excess/umbrella.
  • Coverage analysis experience is required.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates strong written, verbal and effective listening skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with co-workers.
  • Significant experience working with Microsoft Office applications and electronic claim files is required.
  • Must be open to travel, including overnight travel as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and/or training.
  • AIC or CPCU designation is a plus.
