Job Description

Boca Prep International School is seeking a School Counselor

Main duties

The school / college counselor is responsible for the overall emotional well-being and successful pathway of all students. The tasks under this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting weekly meetings with students -(SE behavior monitoring plans, students referred to SST for behavior/grades, etc), follow-up with parents weekly
  • Assisting students in crisis by immediately contacting families and notifying necessary administrators
  • Requesting and reviewing current accommodation and IEP plans of students with communication to all teachers
  • Join weekly department meetings with coordinators and teachers to support students exhibiting SE behavioral issues or struggling to maintain grades/enrollment status
  • Teach the college preparatory class to DP1 & DP2 students along with leading workshops for M4 & M5 students to ensure a successful college preparatory trajectory using Unifrog system
  • Support all DP2 students with finalization of college applications prior to October 1 of senior year and hold workshops monthly for the transitioning to college
  • Schedule and coordinate college on-site visits at Boca Prep
  • Maintain documentation on all disciplinary issues using the secure network.
  • Meet with students of concern as needed and/or on scheduled basis documenting mtg, following up with parents, following up with teachers and presenting issues to admin team
  • Maintain spreadsheet updated weekly of all seniors January - graduation bringing forward any concerns with progress/behavior

School Registrar

The school registrar will be responsible for maintaining all student transcripts and records along with data entry. The tasks under this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Create class schedules PYP K - DP2 based on school schedule
  • Conduct enrollment verification (course audits under state standards)
  • Register all new students and maintain registration records on all current students
  • Ensure all students have the expected coursework completed upon enrollment and current students are progressing on the expected course trajectory–notify families if student requires classes
  • Maintain academic records of students
  • Prepare and distribute, by determined dates, progress reports and report cards (teachers are responsible for comments with 2 week reminder)
  • Process transcripts upon request
  • Complete school transfer and withdrawal requests
