Job Summary:

Barr Transportation is seeking professional, safety-focused individuals to join us as School Bus Drivers . This position offers a combination of responsibilities, including driving daily school routes and providing transportation for field trips, sports trips, charters, and special events . Drivers play a key role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students and passengers, all while maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism.

Responsibilities:
  • Transport students and passengers safely and efficiently on daily school routes , or field trips, sports trips, charters, and special events .
  • Ensure the safety and security of all passengers, complying with state and company safety standards.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in proper working order.
  • Maintain accurate and complete trip documentation, including mileage, routes, and passenger counts.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and school officials regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
  • Adhere to traffic laws, state regulations, and company policies at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers, parents, and school staff.
  • Assist passengers as needed, including children, athletes, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring additional support.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (Required).
  • Must pass a DOT physical examination and drug screening .
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Minimum age: 21 years old.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle inspections and passenger assistance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with strong time-management skills.
  • Prior experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle is preferred but not required.
Schedule:
  • Regular weekday schedule for assigned school routes.
  • Flexible hours for field trips, sports trips, charters, and special events , including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
