What We Are Looking For

Prestage Farms is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental health and safety programs. They will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies. Primary responsibilities may include the following, among others:

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines
• Interface with regulatory agencies, committee members, and institutional staff to formulate corrective actions
• Design training for all levels of employees, principal investigators, and researchers
• Ensure personnel training and corrective action follow-up is completed
• Develop and implement accident investigation, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs
• Conduct onsite reviews and audits of operations and facilities
• Monitor all current information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous materials and agents
• Investigate and evaluate new safety equipment for appropriateness
• Respond and provide assistance to all emergency situations
• May be required t work after hours and on some weekends to respond to emergency or non-emergency situations
• Work conditions are office, feed mills, sow farms, and any other operations of the company

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering, Applied/Basic Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field) or four years of directly related experience in environmental health and safety compliance
• Must possess and maintain a valid NC class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• The ability to count, add, and subtract
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
