ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

The Caspian Policy Center (CPC) is offering four research internships for Summer 2024, with a stipend.  Gain practical experience in a leading think tank focused on the Caspian Region, which includes three South Caucasus states (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia), and five Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan).  Build your publications and work experience, as CPC interns will have the opportunity to research and write for online and printed publications, participate in and organize events with high-level officials, and contribute to strategic projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 

Must be at least an undergraduate student in good standing, but preference will be given to graduate students or recent graduates. 

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution. 

Must make a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week (part-time availability). 

Must be able to work hybrid with some in-person time in the Washington DC office.

Demonstrated interest in international affairs, international economy, and/or foreign policy.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to identify and work through challenges.

Must have excellent multitasking and time-management skills, ability to work independently, and ability to take initiative when needed. 

A functioning understanding of the region. 


What will make your application more competitive: 

 

Majors or other academic exposure to international affairs, political economy, international diplomacy, energy markets, global development, geopolitics, regionalism, and strategic cooperation in Eurasia. 

Knowledge of technology policy and technology development in Eurasia.

Foreign language proficiency (Russian, Chinese, Turkish, or any other relevant language). 

Exceptional written communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. 

Experience with data visualization and graphic design. 

Experience with event planning and working in a fast-paced office environment. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The CPC research intern will contribute to research and program team efforts. Interns will provide research, administrative, event planning, and program support for all Center's initiatives and programs, including Security and Politics Program, Energy and Economy Program, and others. Interns may help with maintaining day-to-day operations and administrative functions, conducting research, compiling indices, assisting with publications and the editorial process, and producing other material. Interns may assist with analyzing scholarly articles, corresponding with authors, fact checking, copy editing, proofreading, generally helping with the production of CPC publications, as well as performing general administrative duties around the Center. Interns will also assist with event/conference preparation, project development, and research for various operations/administrative-related projects as they arise.
