About the Role:

As Kalmbach Feeds continues to grow, we are looking for passionate, hard-working team members that live our values and help us develop new ideas, serve customers, improve our processes, build teams, and realize our growth. Our Research Assistants will gain invaluable experience within the animal production and nutrition industry. The Team Member in this role will assist in research trials related to nutrition and production techniques. The role of Floating Research Assistant will provide the opportunity to work in a variety of different settings, and with a variety of species, including swine research nursery, swine research finisher, poultry research center, and Veritas AgriLabs. The selected individual(s) will work directly with our poultry production, veterinarian and nutrition teams.

About the Role:

• Hours consist of a minimum of 5 hours per week, and up to 25 hours per week when needed
• Participate in the daily husbandry needs for research animals including placement in facility, vaccine administration, treatment of sick animals, feeding, handling, and all other swine / poultry needs
• Provide support at the Poultry Research Center for research measurement days
• Carry out and understand the importance of all biosecurity procedures for both poultry and swine
• Conduct accurate record keeping for weight, mortality, and health of animals
• Perform other job duties assigned that are found to be necessary

Who You Are:

• GED or high school diploma required
• Willingness and ability to flexible schedule to include some weekends
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds consecutively
• Have a passion for agriculture
• Able to handle multiple assignments and tasks around the farm
• Evidence of analytical reasoning and mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide
• Manufacturing or farm experience preferred, but not required
