The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will hold a critical role within our client's team, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Eastern USA Business Unit. This primary position is a technical Outside Sales role with a strategic focus on tier one prospecting, qualifying, and closing business. The RSM will be tasked with acquiring new accounts and maximizing sales opportunities within existing strategic accounts within the designated geographic region.
Role Objective: The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will report directly to the SVP of the Eastern USA Business Unit. This is a technical Outside Sales position concentrated on targeted tier one prospecting, qualifying, and closing business in new accounts, as well as up-selling in existing strategic accounts within the assigned "focused" geographic region outlined in "Appendix A." Any accounts discovered through self-directed prospecting outside of the focused region will require approval for assignment by the SVP. Local travel within the focused region will be expected. Although the majority of sales activity will occur in the focused region, leads may occasionally be directed by the SVP on a "named-account" basis outside of the focused region based on logistical or strategic business reasons, potentially involving sales credit splits. The RSM is expected to spend a significant portion of their time on accounts with the potential to generate over $100K annually. Opportunities below this threshold will either be delegated to the regional inside sales team for management or involve authorized channel partners. The role involves superior knowledge of the sales cycle, creative prospecting, and relationship development at a high level within target accounts. While some leads will be provided through marketing website sources, at least 40% of new leads are expected to be generated through organic methods such as cold calling, upselling, trade show attendance, industry networking, self-directed email blasts, and other business development efforts.
