Essential Duties and Requirements

The Receiver - General Laborer is responsible for efficiently managing materials throughout the custom cabinetry production process. This includes receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming materials, as well as assembling kits with all necessary parts and components for specific projects. The role ensures that materials are handled, stored, and distributed effectively to support the shop's production schedule.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Receiving:

  • Inspect and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Report damaged or missing items to the Purchasing Department.
  • Accurately document all received materials in inventory systems (e.g., Smartsheet).
  • Organize and store materials in designated areas to maintain a clean and safe workspace.

Material Handling:

  • Pull materials from inventory based on the Bill of Materials (BOM) for each project.
  • Assemble and label kitted parts, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Deliver kitted materials to the appropriate workstations or staging areas.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory levels, including periodic cycle counts.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain a clear and organized storage system for raw materials, hardware, and components.
  • Work with Purchasing to identify low stock levels and reorder needs.
  • Assist in tracking material usage to minimize waste and improve yield.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Collaborate with CNC operators, assembly teams, and Project Managers to ensure materials are prepared and delivered on time.
  • Notify relevant staff when parts, hardware, or special materials are unavailable or delayed.

General Shop Support:

  • Assist with staging completed projects for delivery.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Operate forklifts or pallet jacks as needed to move materials safely.

  • Experience in material handling, receiving, or related roles in a manufacturing environment (custom cabinetry experience is a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, blueprints, or production drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must follow all Safety Requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) and operate machinery (forklift certification preferred but not required).
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking.
