Job Description

• Location: Anderson, South Carolina
• Work Arrangement: 100% Remote (Maximum 10 hours per week)
• Contract: This is a Contract position.
• Mode of Interview: One round, virtual (video required).

Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

The primary focus of this role is on system architecture, administration, and specialized maintenance for mission-critical systems:

• Architecture & Deployment: Architect, develop, and implement highly specialized IT architecture, serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for Storage Infrastructure.
• System Administration: Perform independent analysis, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex server technologies. Deploy and manage systems software and hardware.
• System Health Check: Check and monitor the system health of core technologies, including:
  • Kafka
  • SAMQFS
  • ZFS
  • ESXi
  • Splunk
  • Openduty
  • Nagios
• Maintenance & Optimization: Design, install, and maintain system support elements. Tune systems for optimal performance, track capacity, and ensure stability.
• Collaboration: Train and advise junior systems programmers and liaise with other technical units.

Required Specialized Experience (10+ Years)

Due to the mission-critical nature and highly specialized systems involved, candidates must have significant, dedicated experience in the following:

• SAMQFS
• SL8500 (Storage Library)
• ACSLS (Automated Cartridge System Library Software)
• Clemson/USCalifornia DRBS Relationship (Specific experience with this data replication/disaster recovery relationship is essential)

Preferred Skills

• Scripting/Programming: Perl, C
• Monitoring & Virtualization: Splunk, ESXi
• System Management: System performance review, troubleshooting complex systems.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor s degree in Mathematics, Science, or a Technical Field is required.

This is a specialized, part-time commitment (up to 10 hours per week) requiring expert-level knowledge in specialized storage infrastructure.
