The Production Supervisor oversees manufacturing operations during the second shift, leading a team of hourly employees to meet production goals safely, efficiently, and on time. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations on the floor, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, coordinating schedules, and driving team performance. As the sole management representative on-site during second shift, this position also serves as the primary contact for safety, personnel, and operational issues.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all production operations and personnel during the 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM).
- Act as the lead safety representative on-site, promoting a safety-first culture and enforcing all EHS policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety walk-throughs and respond promptly to any incidents or hazards.
- Oversee daily attendance, approve time-off requests, and manage scheduling in alignment with production needs.
- Facilitate effective shift handoffs and provide clear, consistent communication to both team members and management.
- Administer employee performance management, including coaching, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all second shift matters, including safety, quality, production output, and employee concerns.
- Manage on-the-job training for new hires and cross-training initiatives for current employees.
- Support and drive continuous improvement, process consistency, and quality initiatives within the department.
- Monitor adherence to the production schedule and identify/resolve any issues affecting output.
- Accurately track and report shift metrics, updates, and performance at daily production meetings.
- Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system for real-time tracking, reporting, and communication related to production activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with ERP systems—Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Availability to work 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) and occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with safety programs, environmental compliance, and emergency response protocols.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Solid problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Working knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
