Job Description

Location: Onsite 4 days/week, remote 1 day/week

Duration: 3 months to start; historically has extended to 1-2+ years

Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401k, holiday pay

Position Summary:

We are seeking a sharp, fast-moving Production Designer to bring packaging concepts to life — translating creative vision into smart, consumer-ready print executions. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with an internal Art Director and interface with retained agency partners to manage creative from concept through production. You’ll be hands-on in both design and execution, creating dielines, building layouts, managing files, and working cross-functionally with teams like brand creative, print vendors, and operations. This is a highly collaborative, detail-driven role that requires excellent communication, strong print knowledge, and a passion for typography and layout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and agency partners to translate conceptual creative into production-ready packaging assets
  • Create dielines and artwork for packaging components including boxes, hangtags, neck labels, retail bags, and more
  • Apply a clear design eye to every touchpoint — with strong understanding of how materials, structure, and typography inform the end product
  • Assess creative briefs and help determine best execution (internally or with external agencies)
  • Maintain consistency across brand guidelines and identity systems
  • Support creative file management and clear communication with internal and external teams
  • Ensure accurate production setup and print specifications aligned with global packaging standards
  • Field technical questions from print vendors and provide clear, actionable solutions
  • Balance speed and precision to deliver high-quality work on tight timelines
  • Bring an editorial mindset — especially around typography — to ensure packaging clearly communicates to the consumer

Who You Are:

  • A production-savvy designer with 3+ years of experience in packaging, print production, and visual design
  • Skilled in working from concept through execution, with a sharp eye for type, layout, and storytelling
  • Experienced in retail or product packaging design — you know how creative ideas translate onto physical materials
  • Skilled with typography
  • Comfortable with technical artwork, dielines, and production specs
  • Someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and can work with minimal direction
  • Passionate about brand storytelling and print as a tactile consumer experience
  • Familiar with working within identity systems and design guidelines
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Acrobat, Keynote, and Microsoft Office; Figma and Miro are a plus
  • Clear communicator who can confidently speak to your work and creative choices

Nice to Have:

  • Background in editorial or layout design
  • Experience with photography and how it plays into packaging systems
  • Understanding of retail fixture or environmental builds
