Job Description

This is a full-time position that is responsible for training for the operations of pipelines and various pumping stations remotely from the Pipeline Control Center via SCADA, including the monitoring and controlling of liquids pipelines, as well as providing emergency response coordination and control for Pipeline Operations. This position is a twelve (12)-hour rotating schedule with minimal time away from the console during shift, but may begin with a more typical eight (8)-hour schedule during the training period. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Understanding and following procedures
  • Recording hourly over and shorts and daily reports
  • Monitoring flows, pressures, temperatures, and tank levels for pipeline pump stations.
  • Remotely start and stop pumps and control valves to maintain system demand and pressure.
  • Diagnosing potential problems, responding to abnormal conditions, and any alarm conditions that may exist.
  • Requires the ability to interface successfully with schedulers regarding pumping orders and field personnel as needed to execute those orders and mitigate any abnormal or alarm conditions as necessary.
  • Successfully pass Control Center Operator Qualifications to complete training
  • Protection and control diagram proficiency
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Must be willing to work a twelve (12 hour) rotating shift as part of a twenty-four/seven (24/7) Pipeline Control Operation. This will require working nights, weekends, and holidays but may begin with a more typical eight (8)-hour schedule during the training period.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as an individual contributor, or in a team environment, while supporting teams for a common goal and/or solution.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
