Contributes to the organization by providing in-house physician compensation fair market value analysis services. Ensures applicable state and federal laws and regulations are met with respect to fair market value. Responsible for continuous improvement of the compliance program and implementing program enhancements as needed. Participates in compliance investigations, monitoring activities, and other projects as necessary.
This position should understand the various compensation models related to employed and non-employed physicians. The position must be able to perform valuation analysis and be financially literate. This position requires an understanding of the Federal and State laws and regulations regarding physician self-referral (Stark law), Anti-kickback statute, fraud and abuse, and tax exemption. Additionally, the position should have a good working knowledge of hospital and physician practice operations and fosters an ethical and compliant culture while supporting the organization's operational strategies and goals.

Responsibilities

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides in-house physician compensation fair market value analysis services.
  • Performs fair market value analysis for due diligence and organizational integration work efforts involving both growth and divestiture activities.
  • Serves as a consultant when fair market value guidance is required.
  • Assists to develop tools and assists operators through the fair market value analysis process. As requested, provide education.
  • Participates in compliance investigations, monitoring activities, and other projects as necessary.
  • As requested, represents corporate responsibility on workgroups.
  • Works closely with internal and external legal counsel to ensure proper interpretation of the applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree in Finance/Accounting, Health Care Administration, Business or other related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of physician compensation valuation and/or healthcare, finance, or related field experience required.

Required Licensure and Certifications
  • Certification in Provider Compensation Valuation (CPCV) or Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) preferred.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
  • Familiarity with provider compensation valuation and provider compensation models.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare operations, specifically hospital and physician practice, and revenue cycle.
  • Basic understanding of the Federal and State laws and regulations regarding physician self-referral (Stark law), Anti-kickback statute, fraud and abuse, and tax exemption.
  • Financially literate, strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Success working collaboratively with key stakeholders to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to facilitate work groups and develop new processes.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and wri tten communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
