Job Description
A fast-growing general practice firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their IP team. The ideal candidate should have the proven ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inferences from research findings and prepare reports. A Bachelor"s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required. Registration to practice before the USPTO would be preferred. The candidate must have excellent academic credentials and strong administrative skills. This position may require the candidates to travel locally and out of town.
Roles and Responsibilities
Candidates need to perform highly complex and sensitive client work requiring a high level of professional capability and skill. Their primary responsibilities will include:
Preparing patent applications and drafting responses to communications from the USPTO
Assisting attorneys in delivering quality legal services to clients efficiently and cost-effectively
Discussing the scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors and providing attorneys with a report on the same
Communicating with inventors and Patent & Trademark Office in connection with all aspects of the patent application process
Evaluating and reporting on the technological aspects of inventions and other scientific matters
Advising attorneys on general and specific technologies and conducting regulatory and factual research
The candidates will also be expected to coordinate workflows with outside service providers, organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them in a cost-efficient manner, and provide direction to legal support staff on specific issues, as appropriate.
