Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehab is seeking a Part- time (PRN) Resident Driver/ Delivery Worker working for both of our facilities in Allentown & Fountain Hill.

Resident Driver/ Delivery Worker- up to 20 hours per week- varied hours Monday- Friday, Some weekends

This position is for resident community-based outings, delivery and motor vehicle operation work. A position in this class transports residents to and from leisure outings, assist residents while in the community and leisure needs on said outings and delivers supplies and other items between facilities if needed.

Transports residents by assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals to enter and leave vehicle under the vise of the Life Enrichment staff. Receives instructions for trips and assists with coordination prior to the day of the trip. Leisure outings include but are not limited to the following: Walmart shopping, Iron Pigs baseball games, Phantoms hockey games, dining out, bowling, seasonal scenic tours, ice cream trips, movies, the mall etc. The driver will take direction on leisure outings from LE staff members and develop a rapport with both residents and staff in a nurturing environment. The position requires recording mileage driven and basic inspection of the vehicle pre and post trips including fueling at the county garage. When not completing hours within the Life Enrichment Department, the driver will assist Environmental Services with delivering supplies between campuses and will report to the Director of ES.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used in safely loading, securing and unloading passengers onto paratransit vehicles using a 5-point tie down system.
  • Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle.
  • Ability to find geographic locations within the County and the immediate area.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records of activities and tasks completed.
  • Ability to lift, maneuver and support residents in either manual or power wheelchair for loading and unloading.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, Lehigh County garage and residents at all times.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education equivalent to high school or GED graduate.
  • Active PA DOT Driver's License
  • Six to twelve months work driving, loading and unloading paratransit and box truck/ motor vehicles.
  • Safe driving record with a clear Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Experience with the elderly and disabled population.
  • Compassion, patience and empathy.
