Job Description:

Pensacola State College is accepting applications for a part-time career service position in the Central Receiving department. This position reports to the Central Services Supervisor.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in pickup, sorting, and delivery of mail on campus for delivery off campus.
  • Deliver locked bank bags between the Cashier's office and various campuses.
  • Transport books to and from Library units and college bookstore.
  • Deliver mail, packages, boxes, special messages, hand deliveries, and supplies to college departments and individuals from Receiving and Mail Room.
  • Deliver board materials and other college information or correspondence to board members.
  • Pick up mail from the Nobles Post Office to be sorted, routed, and delivered to individuals.
  • Receive, count, sort, and deliver all incoming mail and packages to designated departments or individuals on campus.
  • Pick up all outgoing mail, both postal and internal, and packages to be delivered to internal departments and Post Office.
  • Apply postage to all mail going to the post office.
  • Establish and maintain records of Certified Mail and Express Mail shipped by the USPS and all boxes and packages delivered from Receiving.
  • Operate a college vehicle and provide regular delivery service between campus buildings, departments, and campuses both on campus and off.
  • Deliver mail to the Post Office at the end of the day.
  • Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from High School or GED equivalent. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license upon selection for employment. Successful results of a criminal background check.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

SALARY: $12.00/hour

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry 50 lbs. with much bending and carrying.
