Job Description

As a painter, your job will be critical to the finished product as it reflects on both practical and aesthetic of our conexwest. An excellent painter is knowledgeable in selecting the right material for their job. You must have experience in painting with various tools and in various heights and spaces while observing all safety measures. Be reliable and deft as well as possess great attention to detail in completing your duties. The goal is to deliver high-quality paint work every time, every day.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
  • Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects hardware, trim, and other non painted surfaces.
  • Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using sprayers and other tools.
  • Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster).
  • Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture.
  • Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools.
  • Apply varnish and other finishes.
  • Know, understand and adhere to all health and safety precautions.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven experience as a painter with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Able to stand, reach, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time, have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
  • Good basic math skills
  • Must be able to distinguish among colors
  • High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently it is required to walk.

Occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to sit and talk and hear.

Other physical requirements include:

Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.

Ability to work with arms above head.

Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.

Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.

Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Hand-Eye coordination.

Must not be allergic to smoke, paint, grinding and fiberglass dust.

Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
