Summary

The Packer is responsible for the accurate and efficient packing of a variety of products.

Key Duties and Essential Job Functions

• The accurate and efficient handling, labeling, and packaging of product.
• Absolute proficiency in operation of key packaging equipment.
• Ability to maintain processing flow, resulting in absolute operational efficiency.
• Assist in the training of departmental staff as needed.
• Understand departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and meeting or exceeding them daily.
• Remove defective product or materials, placing them in specified areas for handling.

Responsibilities for Food Safety

• Must adhere to all corporate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all Food & Corporate Safety policies including “clean as you go” program.
• Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
• Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.
• If monitoring critical control points (CCPs), must be trained in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s).
• Label verification and line clearance between batches.

Positional Accountabilities

• Complete adherence to all company GMPs and SOPs.
• Ability to train and appropriate time in the position; to run, adjust, breakdown and reassemble appropriate job specific processing/packing equipment.
• Update immediate supervisor of any on any recognized issues or failures while performing; or issues preventing you from successfully performing your key duties and essential job functions.

Work Environment

While performing duties of this job, the employee is in an indoor, non-climate-controlled facility. They are regularly exposed to machinery with moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will be exposed to continuous noise.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

• Ability to verbally communicate in English; speaking and understanding spoken words.

1st Shift - 6:30am - 2:30pm
2nd Shift - 2:30pm - 10:30pm
3rd Shift - 10:30pm - 6:30am
