Telework will not be offered for this position.

Under the lead of the Cal Expo Business Development Manager, the California State Fair Media/Marketing Intern will assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns in the areas of digital advertising, community promotions, media relations, print, social media, video production & graphic design. The focus will be on content development social media, monitoring all social media accounts, email, customer service, event coordination, website management and media relations.

Working Conditions

  • Works near fast-moving machinery or traffic.
  • Periodic Overtime.
  • May be required to respond after work hours.
  • Works at elevated heights.

  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, airborne dust, fumes, vapors, chemicals, medical waste and blood borne pathogen.
  • Performs other duties requiring high physical demand (requires moving and set up of pop-up tents, lifting of heavy boxes, hanging banners)

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) & Canva
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools (website content management and analytics, promotional email software, SEO reporting tools, Google AdWords and analytics)

Experience with the following:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Social media skills, blogging, posting, and engaging on social media platforms
  • Knowledge of Web Design, Work Press, CMS
  • Email marketing and marketing automation systems knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design
  • Broadcast media, radio, social, print, and digital knowledge
  • Writing press releases, blogs, editing and website management skills
