Overview:

The primary objective is to deliver high-quality instruction in mathematics aligned with the standards established by the Arizona Department of Education, catering to students enrolled in our online high school program. Utilizing online resources garnered through research and collaboration, the teacher will facilitate students' acquisition of knowledge and skills outlined in these standards. The role entails monitoring, motivating, managing, and instructing students via email, phone, and virtual teaching sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver engaging content and skills instruction tailored specifically to high school mathematics.
  2. Foster independent thinking and encourage the expression of original ideas among students.
  3. Provide personalized instruction, including small group sessions, to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students and student subgroups.
  4. Assess students' academic progress, assign final grades, and maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address student needs related to learning, health, and attitudes.
  6. Adapt instructional materials and methodologies in mathematics to create meaningful and challenging assignments and lessons suitable for the online learning environment.
  7. Design courses and supplementary materials that align with state mathematics standards.
  8. Uphold and enforce standards of student behavior conducive to positive and productive interactions between students and teachers.
  9. Maintain open communication channels with parents and school staff to report on student progress.
  10. Participate actively in faculty meetings and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  11. Administer standardized testing as per state and Sequoia testing protocols, potentially involving travel within Arizona.
  12. Develop and deploy courses within the Learning Management System, adhering to established deadlines.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent qualification meeting the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
  2. Possession of an Arizona teaching certificate, or eligibility for reciprocity, supported by college transcripts verifying highly qualified status.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively within tight timeframes.
  4. Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in utilizing technology for instructional purposes.
  7. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint card.
