Maternal Child Educator/Lactation Consultant

Part Time 56 hours/pay

8-hour shifts (starting at 7:30am)

Some rotation to evenings and weekend commitment

ChristianaCare is seeking a part time Maternal Child Educator/Lactation Consultant for our Women’s & Children’s Hospital located on our Newark Campus. The Maternal Child Educators provide all families preventative care services (inpatient and outpatient lactation support and parenting education) with a healthcare equity approach. Additionally, the MCE provides ongoing staff development via in-person and web-based education to all including nurses and providers. This position provides a great opportunity to combine your love of clinical nursing with education.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BSN required or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware required
• Passion to support breast/chest and human milk feeding required
• BLS certification required
• International Board-Certification Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification is required within one year of hire
• Childbirth educator certification or similar preferred
• Two years of Acute Care experience strongly preferred
• Clinical experience/competency in Women’s & Children’s health with previous educational roles in the clinical setting is strongly preferred
