Job Description

A leading organization in the tissue manufacturing industry is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic, sustainability-focused environment while leading a high-performing maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of maintenance professionals and oversee contractor management for maintenance projects.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing performance improvements.
  • Monitor asset performance and implement strategies to sustain and enhance efficiency.
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of planned maintenance work orders.
  • Contribute to annual planning and budgeting processes.
  • Prepare and execute investment and asset maintenance plans, including shutdowns, while achieving ROI targets.
  • Foster employee engagement and development.
  • Ensure compliance with internal business processes and industry best practices.
  • Maintain high standards of work quality and safety within the maintenance team.
  • Monitor and mitigate occupational health and safety risks.
  • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Communicate and lead efforts to meet targets related to production capacity, cost control, quality, employee engagement, and safety.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven leadership experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong team-building and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Effective communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational facility.
  • Proficiency with technological tools including Microsoft Office and CMMS.
  • Familiarity with SAP software is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Technology (or related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in:
    • Leading a maintenance department.
    • Coaching and managing individuals.
    • Implementing safe work practices (e.g., Lockout, PPE, confined space).
  • Experience with paper mill equipment and technologies is beneficial.
  • Skilled in planning and scheduling optimization.
  • Experience with KPIs and project tracking.
  • Knowledge of CapEx processes and maintenance systems in pulp and paper mills is an asset.
