Job Description

We are assisting our client in hiring a Human Resources Assistant - Payroll & Employee Relations in Plymouth, MN . This position is responsible for supporting both the Payroll and Employee Relations teams by performing a variety of tasks associated with processing payroll as well as producing accurate and timely maintenance of employee records.

CONTRACT TO HIRE

HYBRID (3 DAYS IN OFFICE, 2 DAYS REMOTE)

FIRST MONTH 100% ONSITE FOR TRAINING

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform data entry with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service for our employees and others.
  • Assist with various projects as instructed including data validation audits.
  • Assist with and complete projects as directed by management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and file employee records for areas of responsibility.
  • Back-up for direct Manager and Supervisor during their absences as well as others within the
  • department as needed.
  • Maintain and implement procedures for areas of responsibility.

PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in timely and accurate payroll processing for complex multi-state company.
  • Track and enter payroll exceptions and review for accuracy prior to submission.
  • Thoroughly review timecards for errors and other incorrect entries during and throughout the pay
  • period.
  • Process post-payroll activities timeline and as soon as possible following payroll completion.
  • Provide support to the field regarding payroll questions, timecards, tax questions (lived-in/worked-in tax issues).
  • Audit payroll and time information for accuracy at least once per week.
  • Prepare co-efficient overtime calculations.
  • Administer and file term notices for garnishment process.
  • Organize, scan, and/or file payroll records and reports as applicable.
  • Process personnel information changes as necessary (example: change of address, direct deposit, withholding changes).
  • Complete weekly roster review timely with thorough tracking of changes and responses.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with manager.
  • Train managers and employees on how to use timecards and other features of the payroll system.
  • Audit carrier file feeds for accuracy and errors.
  • Research incorrect items through to correction.
  • Follow up on blocked HSA accounts.
  • Social security number verification process.
  • 401k unclaimed checks review and follow up.
  • Support other benefit audit and review processes.
  • Prepare taxable fringe benefits information for payroll processing.
  • Filing of promotion offer letters.
  • Maintain payroll and time employee records.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and gather employee information for applicable promotion inquiries for review.
  • Research and gather employee information for rehire inquiries for review.
  • Gather and process requests for employee documents and records for Supervisor review.
  • Conduct post payroll review of documentation requirements per subsidy performance expectations.
  • Prepare documents and distribute applicable information to management.
  • Monitor outstanding performance reviews for terminated employees and position changes to keep outstanding reviews clean and up to date.
  • Compile and distribute attendance compliance reporting on a regular basis.
  • File performance and disciplinary actions upon review by Supervisor (example: IDP, NOCA, PIP).
  • Follow up on low and excess hours usage for all employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1+ years of human resources experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Experience with UKG Pro or other payroll/HRIS vendors.
  • Experience with payroll related responsibilities.
  • Strong data entry speed and efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and stay on task.
  • Ability to follow directions thoroughly and accurately (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work with confidential information is essential.
  • Ability to work and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
