Job Description

Tabor Academy is seeking a compelling and passionate educator for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach core history courses in the History and Social Sciences Department. Year-long surveys in world and United States history are the core graduation requirement and the classes stress historical thinking, reading, writing, and discussion skills. As a residential school, Tabor considers the work of faculty broadly, and we engage students both during and beyond the academic day. Faculty at Tabor can expect to contribute to two seasons in the afternoon athletic and/or cocurricular program and to be responsible for weekly evening, and monthly weekend supervisory duties.

This is full-time exempt faculty position. Housing may be included in the compensation package.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Embrace an initiative-driven faculty culture focused on advancing Tabor Academy’s mission
  • Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons aligned with curriculum standards in history and social sciences.
  • Foster critical thinking, discussion, and inquiry-based learning through primary and secondary sources
  • Encourage students to analyze historical events, contemporary issues, and global perspectives
  • Possess an understanding of current teaching pedagogies and adolescent development
  • Model flexibility in implementing best learning practices and pursuing success for each student
  • Possess a high degree of cultural competency and demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and perspectives
  • Demonstrate fluency with academic technology and a willingness to integrate technology into classroom experiences with specific emphasis on AI integration and proficiency
  • Enjoy collaborating with colleagues within and across subject areas, and all aspects of school life
  • Invest in the community and participate in the lives of our students outside of the classroom
  • Convey patience, empathy, enthusiasm, and optimism in their work with adolescents and faculty
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Be self-reflective, able to work independently, and committed to professional growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in History
  • Preferred: Experience in secondary or post-secondary instruction
  • Preferred: Experience working in a residential setting
