Job Description
Position Summary: Ensures accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations through the maintenance and control of medical records. Maintains integrity, privacy, and confidentiality of patients' health information by adhering to proper techniques for indexing, scanning, and storage. Follows proper protocol to maintain and update patient records as needed.
Critical Tasks: - Reviews medical records to maintain compliance with all established regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Ensures that all standards of patient medical data privacy and confidentiality are met.
- Oversees research of missing documentation, records, and materials and follows up with departments and physicians as appropriate.
- Reviews Electronic Health Record (EHR) reports on a daily basis to identify missing documentation.
- Sorts and files medical records.
- Verifies release authorization requests for confidential medical records and releases requested documentation on a need-to-know basis.
- Follows established procedures to purge and forward inactive records as needed.
- Retrieves and forwards medical data and charts as requested.
- Performs prepping and scanning of records and ensures that all records were scanned properly.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience in hospital Medical Records setting or similar clinical setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
- Employment at the Caring House requires: AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
