Our client, a contemporary outerwear brand in NYC, is seeking a Head Sportswear Designer for their women's apparel team. The responsibilities include planning and developing a fresh young contemporary outwear collection, creating CAD presentations with style information and color palettes, managing sample prototypes, and preparing for buyer meetings. The role also involves working closely with Sales to strategize new business development, submitting a T&A calendar to maintain timing between Sales, Design, and Production, and multitasking multiple projects.Qualifications for the position include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Design, 5+ years of fashion design experience with a focus on sportswear, technical knowledge of fabrications and garment construction, and the ability to cost engineer to achieve target costs while maintaining product integrity.
