**Group Leader, Al-driven Modeling and Simulation Group**
**Location:** Oak Ridge, TN, US, 37830 * Serve as immediate supervisor for staff members in group.
* Encourage staff to think and dream big, take appropriate risks in their work, and develop skills that will enable them to pursue new ideas, scientific passions, and research programs.
* Advance the reputation of the group members and standing of the group as a whole through establishing collaborations, Professional Society leadership and involvement, and organization of technical events.
* Support group members by consistently reviewing technical products such as proposals, publications, and artifacts to ensure high quality and consistency with ORNL standards.
* Build strong teams across ORNL.
* Connect staff to your scientific network and professional societies.
* Hold regular scientific/technical group meetings and be visible in the labs and workplace.
* Assume front-line responsibility for safety in the groups laboratory; mentor and empower the Laboratory Space Managers to create a strong safety culture.
* Effectively communicate the importance of protecting proprietary or sensitive information and complying with ORNL cybersecurity policies and guidelines.
* Requires a Ph.D. with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience in scientific mentorship and leading R&D teams.
* Experience leading biomedical and health data science research and technology development projects dealing with computational, machine learning, and modeling and simulation technologies.
* Demonstrated expertise in HPC applications on leadership computing systems such as the *Summit* supercomputer or other Leadership Class Facility.
* Experience writing successful R&D proposals to multiple government agencies including NIH, research plans, technical reports to sponsors, and develop and execute on a vision for future research relevant to biomedical and health data science & engineering.
* Ability to function well in a dynamic research environment and set priorities to accomplish broad programmatic and scientific impacts.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, outstanding written and oral communication skills and organizational skills.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior levels of scientists and administrators involved in technical endeavors.
* A successful record of developing research partnerships and collaborative relationships with universities, industry, and research laboratories.
