Job Description

Are you an experienced DE Underwriter looking for your next career move? We're seeking dedicated full-time DE Underwriters to join our nationwide team! This is a remote position, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere.

Position Overview:

As a Mortgage Loan Underwriter, you'll play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting mortgage applications to ensure that borrowers meet all required program and product specifications before funding. You'll communicate credit decisions—whether approvals, suspensions, or denials—to the operations team and be a key player in maintaining fair lending practices. Your decisions will uphold the company's commitment to sound lending while ensuring production and quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

- Thoroughly review loan files to assess income, collateral, and creditworthiness according to program and product guidelines.
- Meet or exceed monthly production and quality benchmarks.
- Stay updated with corporate, investor, and regulatory guidelines, maintaining expert knowledge in these areas.
- Communicate credit decisions and documentation needs effectively to all relevant team members.
- Accurately maintain records of all credit risk activities.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

- 5+ years of experience in the mortgage industry with direct experience underwriting residential mortgage loans.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities:

- Experience in appraisal review with knowledge of USPAP and Agency Guidelines.
- Strong manual and automated underwriting system (AUS) skills.
- Ability to underwrite files in line with FNMA/FHLMC standards.
- Proficiency in reviewing and calculating income from complex tax returns.
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Highly motivated and proactive, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
