Position Summary
The Facilities Manager position is full-time, 40 hours per week (exempt, benefits available) and will primarily take place at our Little Village, Humboldt Park, Midway locations. The Facilities Manager will oversee the maintenance, safety and logistics of the New Life Centers locations and building projects. This position will oversee a facilities team and monitor contractors involved in projects. May require some local travel (reimbursable). Pay commensurate with experience. This position is in-person.
Job Responsibilities
- Assures excellence in the regular general maintenance of NLC buildings and spaces including cleanliness and repairs.
- Communicates with Supervisor and staff to ensure any safety issues or concerns are addressed immediately.
- Assists with event and meeting set-up, tear-down, clean-up as needed.
- Coordinates annual Fire Inspections and other inspections needed to meet compliance.
- Works with the Executive Director and team to create renovation plans, attain cost estimates, and procure materials.
- Procures cost-effective materials and supplies.
- Handles tools with care, taking all safety precautions necessary for self and others.
- Maintains inventory of tools and supplies in secured spaces considering the safety of others.
- Manages time and team wisely to complete assigned projects.
- Requests assistance from Executive Director when necessary.
- Assists in acquiring Space Sharing Agreements, quotes and rental agreements as requested.
- Oversees productivity and safety of facilities team members and is main contact for communications with subcontractors.
- Monitors and updates Operations team on progress of subcontractors and building/space projects.
- Must attain Executive Director approval prior to beginning renovations or projects for larger repairs.
- Must inform Executive Director of any projects that may seem dangerous to complete.
- Maintains accuracy of budget and spending plan and assures team is spending on target.
- Participates in required evaluations and audits when necessary.
- Demonstrates New Life Centers’ values.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
- Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
- Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
- Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
- Must have a working phone and phone number.
- One year experience working in building maintenance field.
- Experience managing others preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Must be willing to be trained, and proficiently utilize Microsoft 365 and other information tracking systems relevant to duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license. Ability to travel to different sites as needed. Subject to driving background check.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
