JOB DESCRIPTION

Westchester, a Chubb Company, is seeking a Senior or Executive Casualty Underwriter to join our Property & Casualty team. The role focuses on achieving profitable underwriting results through growth, development, servicing, and underwriting of Westchester's business.

The Senior/Executive Underwriter's primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks demonstrating the following skills and abilities:

• Fundamentals of coverage, terms, and conditions: Ability to offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate profit while meeting customer needs.
• Risk Assessment: Ability to identify risk exposures, hazards, and controls; select risks based on exposure and analysis; analyze claims and quantify losses.
• Financial proficiency: Understanding financial statements, ratios, and insurance fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on assets; understanding credit risk.
• Actuarial fundamentals: Understanding loss trends, loss triangles, ratemaking; quantifying risk based on experience and forecasting.
• Marketing and communications: Ability to sell, negotiate, make presentations, and communicate strategically; manage producer strategy.
• Systems and programs: Proficiency in using systems and software for daily operations.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Soliciting new and renewal submissions from brokers.
• Determining terms, conditions, and complex rating plans.
• Binging coverage.
• Documenting underwriting files.
• Handling complex files and portfolios within authority.
• Guiding and mentoring junior staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required.
