Job Description
Events Manager
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and evaluating all special events at United Way. This position ensures a strong brand presence for United Way at key community-wide functions. Additionally, this role will oversee and execute special projects. This position reports to the Director of Brand Management & Community Engagement.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates all aspects of event management;
Works with various departments to implement events targeting Giving Communities and the United Way;
Researches, identifies event opportunities, and negotiates with a diverse group of external vendors to procure goods and services for events;
Manages program budget development, compliance with financial and program reporting;
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key funders and partners.
Participates in Legacy grant Girls in Sports programming (two annual events) to ensure integration with the year round programming expansion;
Develops new partnerships and strengthens existing collaborative relationships with universities, schools, community and faith-based organizations;
Recruits and directs volunteers as needed;
Ensures compliance with current regulations that provide for the safety and security of individuals participating in program activities;
Compiles program statistics & pre & post surveys for key events
Attends mandatory organizational, departmental and committee meetings
Supports the organization's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts;
Visibly demonstrates UW values of service, integrity, collaboration, accountability, equity & agility;
Performs general office duties such as typing, filing, data entry, opening mail, etc;
Engages in job-related travel to designated trainings, meetings and events;
Maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives;
Performs other duties as requested.
Education, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, hospitality management, or a related field, with three years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Experience with athletics, fitness, youth sports, youth development and/or after school programming preferred.
Experience with program design, development, implementation and retention.
Experience with collaboration of schools, universities, community agencies, parks and recreation, and faith based organizations.
Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
Project management, organization and time management skills.
Good listening skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel; proficiency in G Suite apps including Docs and Sheets.
