DISCO Corporation’s U.S affiliate, DISCO Hi-Tec America, Inc. (DHA), is looking for an Office Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join the expanding team in our San Jose office. Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Location: San Jose, California Salary: 60K-70K per year This is a full-time position with benefits including Bonuses, Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life), Health Savings Account, 401(k), Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays Overview: The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for conducting safety inspections, leading training sessions, investigating incidents, and partnering with management to promote a culture of safety. The Safety Specialist II typically works with moderate independence and may mentor junior safety staff. This position will act as a liaison between departments, external partners, and corporate leadership, often interfacing with global teams across North America and Japan. Essential Job Functions: Regulatory Compliance & Program Management Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations. Develop, maintain, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs (e.g., hazard communication, lockout/tagout, PPE, ergonomics, machine guarding). Assist with safety audits and regulatory inspections Oversee day-to-day office operations including facilities management, supplies, and vendor coordination. Coordinate with IT, HR, and Finance to support onboarding, travel arrangements, and general employee support. Maintain office policies, procedures, and documentation in compliance with company and legal standards. Support executives with scheduling, travel bookings, and internal communications. Work with other departments in DHA as well as HQ in Japan Manage budgets for office supplies, maintenance, and administrative expenses. Participate and contribute to DISCO corporate activities focusing on deeper thinking, value exchange, and constant improvement Work independently with minimal supervision Training & Education Develop and deliver safety training for employees and supervisors (classroom, toolbox talks, and hands-on sessions). Maintain training records and ensure employee certifications remain current. Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and hazard assessments. Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend corrective actions. Track and analyze safety performance metrics (e.g., incident rates, safety observations) Work closely with supervisors, maintenance, and operations to identify and mitigate risks. Participate in safety committee meetings and recommend process improvements. Support emergency preparedness planning, including drills and response plans. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and organized individuals with persistence and patience Excellent team players who take initiative and have strong verbal and written communication skills Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 3–5 years of professional safety experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
