An Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialist is collaboratively responsible for the effective independent oversight of the banks risks. The Risk Department takes a bird's-eye view of all financial institution-wide risk and acts as the institution's linchpin for enterprise risk management. An ERM Specialist supports the bank's executive or management team in establishing the institutions risk policies and supports monitoring of risks such as strategic, operational, compliance, financial, IT and security (both data and physical) risk. An ERM Specialist will provide input and assist in development and implementation of risk management framework with appropriate tools for the measurement, reporting, control, and mitigation of the banks financial and non-financial risks. An ERM Specialist monitors and reports adherence to risk-taking activities, compiles various and frequent documentation, reporting, and analysis for executive management and/or the Board of Directors.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Provides support, development, and enhancement to the bank's enterprise risk management program and framework for all aspects of risks across the bank.
  • Conducts risk assessments using various quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Assists with the development of risk management policies, including the quantification of the banks risk appetite through specific risk limits.
  • Implements a set of risk metrics and reports, including losses and incidents, key risk exposures, and early warning indicators.
  • Member or observer of any risk management-related committees or meetings.
  • Identifies potential risks and presents mitigating solutions by reviewing and analyzing data, observing processes, and collaborating with staff.
  • Implements and applies industry best practices in addressing governance, risk and control related matters as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with departmental management in implementing governance and risk management programs within their own functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Reside within a 30 miles radius from the designated office or willing to relocate. If relocating, please include relocation details in cover letter.
  • Minimum 2+ years' risk management (or closely related) experience at a financial institution.
  • Maintains understanding of regulatory laws, regulations, compliance requirements and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge and the development of risk dashboards and associated metrics to identify and quantify organization risks and present actionable conclusions to executive management or the Board of Directors.
  • Risk management experience including acquaintance with enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Self-starter with excellent attention to detail, communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle intricate problems, breaking them down into controllable tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to advise staff level employees through members of the executive leadership team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Bachelors Degree in a Business related major.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience at a financial institution, in or a combination of: risk management, business operations or support, audit, quality control or assurance, or related positions.
