Overview
Epik International is a U.S. general contractor specializing in complex, high-security design-build and construction projects for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Technician or Electrical Technical Office Engineer (no PE required) to support our technical and construction management operations from our Fairfax, VA headquarters.
This position will focus on technical review, scope analysis, and coordination of electrical design and construction requirements for overseas government projects. The role is ideal for a candidate with a strong electrical background who enjoys design interpretation, documentation control, and problem-solving in a structured, compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review project electrical designs, specifications, and contract documents to extract material, equipment, and scope requirements.
Develop and maintain detailed material take-offs, component breakdowns, and scope summaries for procurement and cost tracking.
Identify design inconsistencies, missing data, or ambiguities; communicate clarifications to internal teams and design consultants.
Prepare submittals, and technical data sheets to ensure compliance with contract and code requirements
Assist in preparation and review of in-house shop drawings.
Coordinate with the project management and construction teams to support planning, sequencing, and installation activities.
Track and verify vendor data, product submittals, and material approvals.
Support electrical as-built documentation and field coordination efforts when required.
Attend internal coordination meetings, client reviews, and occasional site visits as needed.
Maintain compliance with project security and document control standards.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship and active Secret-level Personnel Clearance (PCL) required.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background; experienced electrical technicians with field or design support experience are encouraged to apply.
5+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, construction engineering, or technical project support.
Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and load calculations.
Strong understanding of applicable codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA).
Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Bluebeam, and AutoCAD or Revit for drawing review.
Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and technical writing ability.
Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with remote teams.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid position: Primarily remote work, with occasional required presence at the Fairfax, VA office.
Must be available for in-person meetings with clients, consultants, or internal staff as needed.
Standard business hours with flexibility based on project demands.
